Seattle Ballard Dream Transformation Remodel
This Seattle Ballard kitchen originally was a small galley style kitchen that lacked not only space but style. Old laminate countertops and flooring were an eyesore that the clients wished to be rid of. Like the tale of the ugly duckling, this kitchen turned into a beautiful swan.
New dark granite countertops bring a bold and dramatic touch, while the brass hardware offers a striking contrast against the dark blue cabinets. A marble slab backsplash gives the kitchen an elegant feel, while the color-blocked scheme of white and blue makes this kitchen fun and modern. One of the most striking statements of this space is the Lacanche Dual powered range that brings in added detail with its brass knobs and multiple cooking features. Floating shelves on both sides of the large, covered hood give the clients additional opportunities to display art and décor, bringing in these personal touches that kitchens sometimes lack.
Relocating this kitchen into the former family room, the space doubled in size and became much more usable. With its new location in the home, a vaulted ceiling and stained beam also helped in giving this space a grander feel. The array of windows and skylights offer plenty of natural light, so even on the grayest of Seattle days, this kitchen feels bright and cheerful, even with the darker base cabinetry.
