Kirkland Fresh Start Kitchen & Bathrooms Remodel
Everyone wants to live in their childhood home? For these clients, this house had been in their family for years. It also hadn't been touched in years! The layout was a typical split level that kept the kitchen closed off, and the whole main level suffered from a lack of flow.
In the kitchen, we knocked down walls to open up the space and changed the existing windows' location to let in more natural light. To further this, French doors were added in the kitchen dining area. Since storage was a concern, plenty of upper and lower cabinets were added, as well as a pull-out pantry. The marbled quartz countertop offers a nice contrast against the dark wood cabinetry, while the blue hex tile adds a nice pop of color to the bathroom. A large island with a waterfall edge houses an induction cooktop, perfect for these food lovers. It’s also a perfect addition for a family like theirs, as one of the features of this cooktop is its ability to cool down quickly when not turned on.
In the master bath, it was hard to understand why this was deemed as a master. A single small shower and toilet were closed off to a sink just outside the ‘wet area’, making it unwelcoming and more like a motel bathroom that the best bathroom in the house. Now, a his and her sinks are installed along side a shower stall fit for two! A large air jet tub also can house a couple for a romantic spa night. Adding warmth to this bathroom, a beige color scheme was used to bring in a cozy feel and give it another classic and timeless look. The bathroom now is certified ‘master’ worthy.
